our mission is to
"Inspire & empower people to protect wildlife"
We believe in a world where humans and wildlife co-exist in a long-term and sustainable way. In order to ‘co-exist’ there must be a balance between the needs of humans and all other life on earth. At present, this state of balance does not exist, and humans have tipped the scales so much in their favour, that global biodiversity is declining. This is bad for wildlife and over the long run, very bad for humanity. In order to bring this relationship back to equilibrium we need to ensure there are far greater protections for wild spaces and wildlife and a greater global understanding of why this is important. This will also force humans to innovate quickly in order to ensure we meet our needs too, something we can surely do.
The foundation of achieving “greater protections for wild spaces” is in understanding it properly, and so our first purpose is rooted in supporting and conducting scientific research. Our vision is for this research to be utilised in the decision making for how to better protect global biodiversity, whether it is individual species, creating marine protected areas (MPAs) or giving space back to wildlife.
The foundation of creating “greater global understanding” of the importance of biodiversity protections, is in education and communication. Therefore, our second purpose is to perform wildlife and conservation storytelling and education to help the public see the value in creating balance between the natural world and human needs.
achieving our mission
Below are the areas we focus on in order to ensure that marine wildlife and biodiversity are both protected and restored.
Increasing
Awareness & education
We help the public to understand the value of nature and wildlife as well as the challenges it is facing today. We do this by putting a spotlight on the issues, initiatives and organisations on the front lines of wildlife conservation.
Creating
Wildlife protectors
We work to inspire and mobilise those within our community into action by getting them engaged and hands on in conservation work. Whether this is through citizen science, advocacy, volunteering or donating.
Supporting
Scientific research & conservation
We are dedicated to making marine research happen. Deepening scientific knowledge is the cornerstone or conservation. By better understanding marine ecology we as a community can design more effective conservation approaches and mechanisms to protect the marine environment.
