The ocean gives us all so much. For most of you, like us, you spend as much time as you can in the water, on a lifelong adventure to explore the magic that the sea can offer. Encounters with manta rays and tiger sharks that make you feel accepted in the water. The quiet, alone feeling of floating through an underground kelp forest. Realising childhood dreams of see humpbacks migrating.

And more practically for some of us, and millions of others around the world, the ocean provides us with food and a way to earn a living and survive.

We preach to take only images and memories, and leave nothing behind. But for all the wonders the ocean presents us with, our collective impact on it as a species is taking its toll. Together we must work to give back to our oceans and help protect them from further degradation.

As a team, and as individuals, we are always talking about ways that we can give back to the ocean. Sometimes the talk needs to stop, and the action needs to start. So we’re starting, and we promise we won’t stop.

We’re beginning by running a simple competition (in support of Clean Up Australia Day - March 5th). The idea here is to mobilise the troops (that’s you) to clean-up your local beach, river or park and do whatever you can to help the ocean in some small but meaningful way. 

So, for all of you budding conservationist (and those that are basically walking dolphins at this point), we’re offering 2x Tickets to SummerSalt Festival with Xavier Rudd & John Butler to whoever we feel has done the most for our oceans! We’ll also offer some smaller prizes for a few of you who we think were creative, got others involved, or created some cool content to share what they did.

To be a part of this, and have a chance to make it to the winners’ list , follow the steps below:

1. Post a photo or video cleaning up your local area.

For those that can’t get to a beach, a lot of rubbish from parks and streets ends up in sewer drains and rivers that run into our oceans and we want you to hijack it before it gets there!

3. Challenge 3 friends and use #OceanGiveback

Spread. The. Word. Invite three ocean-lover friends by tagging them and using #OceanGiveback in your post caption.
